The draw to choose candidates that qualify for the Ontario Tech Pilot assists the Ontario government in searching the Express Entry pool for viable candidates. If the candidate meets the criteria of the Human Capital Priorities Stream or has work experience in one of the targeted National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes, they will receive Notification of Interest (NOI) on their Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) online account.

How to Apply for the Ontario Tech Pilot Program
- Make sure you qualify for the stream that you would like to apply to by checking the requirements.
- Create a profile. Before applying to be nominated, you will need to create a profile. These profiles get ranked according to the highest scores. Candidates that score well will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) or a Notification of Interest (NOI).
- Apply to be nominated. Once you get an ITA or NOI you may apply online to be nominated by the OINP within 14 days if you have an employer job offer or are an international student. If you applied by means of one of the Express Entry streams and receive an NOI you will be able to apply within 45 days. The application will take two to three hours to complete.
- If your application is successful you will get nominated by the OINP. Once you get accepted the next would be to apply for permanent residence through IRCC. The Canadian government makes the final decision on who becomes a permanent resident.
The application costs for the human and capital streams will be between $1,500 and $2,000. The processing times may differ depending on the number of applicants that enter at a time. The business stream is about $3,500 per key staff applicant or business partner.

- Have one year of experience in one of the above-mentioned occupations.
- Meet the Human Capital Priorities Stream under Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program.
Ontario Human Capital Priorities Requirements
Because the Ontario Tech Pilot falls under the Human Capital Priorities Stream, there are some general requirements that need to be met in order to apply:
- Language proficiency of minimum level 7 Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) for English, or the Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) for French.
- The equivalent of a Canadian Bachelor's degree or higher.
- Residing with legal status in Canada.
- Proof of settlement funds.
- Profile under the Federal Express Entry system that has been ongoing.
- Be qualified for either the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) or Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
- Minimum Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System score.
- Intention of residing in Ontario.
- 1-year of full-time equivalent or, full-time work experience in NOC occupation level 0, A, or B, in the past three years if applying under CEC, or five years if applying under FSWP.
